STRATA HOUSE
CURRENTLY IN CONSTRUCTION
This project is a rebuild of a property lost in the 2018 Woolsey Fire. Three massive retaining walls, which once divided the site into terraced sections, were all that remained. The new house is embedded within this existing strata, filling the voids left behind after the fire, and tracing the lines that cut through the hillside. These walls were used to shape the architecture—carving out distinct pockets of refuge and intrigue—while three monolithic accents at the entry stand as a quiet nod to the walls’ lasting imprint.
